Labrador Coastal Communities
Marine Atlantic, its predecessor CN Marine, and pre-confederation Newfoundland coastal boats have a strong and proud history serving the people of Atlantic Canada through ferry terminals, passenger vessels and rail service.
In this week’s blog posting we highlight Labrador coastal communities that were serviced by Marine Atlantic and its predecessors for almost a century.
Beginning with vessels such as the SS Home and SS Fife, ferry service has a rich attachment to the strong and resilient communities that are located along the golden Labrador coastline. Throughout the decades there have been numerous vessels that have served as passenger and freight carriers to remote and isolated communities. While Marine Atlantic’s delivery of the service ended in 1997, Labrador remains an important part of our history.
