Proud of our History - the MV Marine Sprinter

Marine Atlantic, its predecessor CN Marine, and pre-confederation Newfoundland coastal boats have a strong and proud history serving the people of Atlantic Canada through ferry terminals, passenger vessels and rail service

Nicknamed a “Tiajuana Taxi” because of the speed at which this smaller vessel could travel to southern coastal communities, it was 94 feet long and could carry up to 68 passengers. Faster than any of the vessels that previously serviced these remote communities, the MV Marine Sprinter and its sister ship the MV Marine Runner were considered seagoing buses that transported thousands of passengers during its years of service.
