Proud of our History - the Port aux Basques terminal
Marine Atlantic, its predecessor CN Marine, and pre-confederation Newfoundland coastal boats have a strong and proud history serving the people of Atlantic Canada through ferry terminals, passenger vessels and rail service.
For over 115 years, Port aux Basques has welcomed millions of passengers and tourists. In addition, millions of tonnes of essential freight has travelled through the town on its way to every single person in every single community in the province. It’s no wonder this charming town on the southwest coast has become known as the Gateway to Newfoundland.
We hope you enjoy these photos which show a changing landscape, community and service. We invite you to send along any pictures that you may have, as well as any memories from days gone by that you would like to share. We plan on posting some of these items in a future blog.
Please email your photos to [email protected] including any facts such as the date of the photos and location.
Next week we highlight the MV Abegweit which serviced the Prince Edward Island-New Brunswick crossing.
