Stay connected while at Sea; Internet Access and Cell Service
We recognize that staying connected while travelling is important to our passengers. With more and more tech-savvy customers bringing devices along during their travel to stay connected with friends, family, and businesses, we are often asked about cell phone, Internet access, and even wireless capabilities onboard our vessels. So, what can you expect while at sea??
Cell Service and 3G Networks: Depending on your service provider, cellular signal and 3G network connections are available for a significant portion of our Port aux Basques-North Sydney route.
Internet access: Free Wi-Fi is available on our terminal grounds through the Bell Aliant hot spot. Internet Kiosks are also available on each vessel; however, the connection is often very slow. Factors such as satellite signal strength, available bandwidth, location of the vessel and weather all impact the level of connectivity passengers can expect to experience while our vessels are at sea.
TIP: High bandwidth applications such as video streaming, online games, or any other live programs that require consistent signal return from the satellite cannot be accessed via the Internet Kiosks.
Before you go why not download some of your favorite shows, movies or games to your mobile devices or visit one of our comfortable passenger areas to avail of our large screen TV’s. (Televisions are also available in cabins – ask a reservations agent about our in room offerings).
