Argentia service to be impacted by MV Blue Puttees incident
To help address capacity challenges while the MV Blue Puttees is undergoing repairs in dry dock, Marine Atlantic is being forced to re-route the Argentia service through Port aux Basques for at least the next two weeks.
With the significantly reduced capacity available with a three vessel fleet, Marine Atlantic is being forced to make difficult decisions to transport the largest number of customers possible during the service interruption. By moving the MV Atlantic Vision to service the Port aux Basques-North Sydney service, capacity on that vessel will be doubled due to the shorter crossing time. This will provide the ability to transport extra customers who would have been displaced.
For Argentia customers, refunds will be issued and re-bookings will be offered through Port aux Basques at the Port aux Basques-North Sydney rates. Travel vouchers of $200 per adult and $100 per child for future travel will be offered to each passenger affected by this change.
For Port aux Basques-North Sydney customers, a revised schedule is being developed that may impact customers' original booking times. Marine Atlantic will contact customers through its customer contact system with any changes to departure times. For customers with delays in excess of 13 hours, travel vouchers of $200 per adult and $100 per child will be offered. Complimentary meals will be offered to customers with delays of between 4 and 13 hours.
Marine Atlantic acknowledges that there will be reduced capacity during this busy period and there will be challenges, however, the Corporation will work to minimize the potential impact to customers to the best of its ability. Marine Atlantic apologizes for this inconvenience. Further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
