Marine Atlantic 2018-19 schedule and rate structure now available for booking
St. John's, NL - Marine Atlantic today released its 2018-19 schedule and rate structure for travel between April 1, 2018, and March 31, 2019.
This year's schedule will continue to see the popular overnight and morning crossings, and dedicated commercial and restricted crossings to facilitate the transport of goods to and from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Effective April 1, there will be no tariff increases to passenger fares, vehicle fares or the drop trailer management fee.
The fuel surcharge will increase by 3 percent. This will be the first fuel surcharge increase since 2011 and is necessary to cover increased fuel costs associated with the Corporation's move to more expensive marine diesel fuel to meet new international Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA) environmental regulations adopted by the Government of Canada.
Marine Atlantic's internal fuel management measures, hedging program and the price of fuel enabled the Corporation to maintain or decrease the fuel surcharge in recent years. However, the more expensive diesel fuel associated with this transition requires increases to now be passed along to customers. The Corporation is required to fully meet the new SECA regulations by January 1, 2020.
