Marine Atlantic Announces Delayed Start of Argentia Service
St. John’s, NL – With uncertainty regarding the commencement of the Atlantic Bubble and provincial travel restrictions, Marine Atlantic announced today that it will be delaying the start of the Argentia service until July 4.
The Argentia service was originally scheduled to commence on June 16. With the current COVID-19 uncertainties and challenges, immediate decisions were required to amend the start date of required annual preparations for the beginning of the service. Marine Atlantic recognizes the impact this decision will have on customer travel plans and is reaching out directly to all affected customers. Customers will have the option of selecting an alternate travel date, moving to a crossing on the Port aux Basques service, or receiving a refund.

“We recognize this inconvenience and apologize to our customers for this schedule change. We recognize that customers have travel plans and this decision will negatively impact those plans. If any customer has concerns with respect to their travel plans or service, please do not hesitate to contact our customer relations department and we will do everything we can to meet their needs. We thank customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to deal with the uncertainties of COVID-19, and want to assure them that we will work diligently to minimize the impacts wherever possible. We continue to monitor updates and are working with Public Health officials in both Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia, and are optimistic that together we will overcome the current challenges in Atlantic Canada and hopefully begin our Argentia season on July 4. The team at Marine Atlantic is committed to providing customers with a safe and healthy experience and we are looking forward to being part of our customers’ travel plans when it is safe to do so.”
