Marine Atlantic Awards Contract for Construction of New Administration Building in Port aux Basques
St. John’s, NL – Following months of planning, design, and siteworks activities, Marine Atlantic is pleased to announce that Olympic Construction based out of St. John’s, NL, has been selected to construct the Corporation’s new administration building to be located at 175 Hardy’s Arterial Road in the Town of Port aux Basques. Olympic Construction and its teams will mobilize to the site this week.
This multi-year project is designed to address space and infrastructure challenges and consolidate administrative functions currently located at several buildings in the town. Once completed during the summer of 2024, the new building will play an important role in the Corporation’s vision for a safe, healthy, and skilled workforce. The Corporation’s goal is to construct a facility that is a Leader in Energy Efficient Design (LEED) and when completed meets LEED certification requirements. To accomplish this there will be modern amenities and new environmental technologies, including electric vehicle charging stations. The structural design will include tilt panel construction to make the building sturdier and use more weather-resistant materials requiring less maintenance.
